Muscovy Ducks close up!

Muscovy Ducks are normally native to Mexico, Central and South America, so finding them along with the Embden Geese I blogged about last week in Lowndes Park, Chesham would normally be considered unusual!

Along with the Embden Geese, these Muscovy Ducks are also a ‘domestic breed’ and have been introduced into the UK. These ones were very tame as they are used to a lot of people in the park, so tame that they kept getting too close so I decided to embark on a portrait session!

Having a chat with one of the locals I found out that the one youngster that was on the island survived his 10 brothers and sisters who were all eaten by a heron! Could make an interesting project in a few months!
